About the author...
Kim Poovey is an author, storyteller, and Victorian reenactress. Traveling the Southeast for more than 20 years, she presents on 19th century topics such as ladies fashion, mourning practices, ornamental hair work, and other Victorian era topics. Kim creates all of her historical attire using patterns from the period. She is also an instructor for OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) at University of South Carolina, Beaufort.
Her published works include The Haunting of Monroe Manse, The Haunting of Edgefield Manor, Shadows of the Moss, Truer Words, Dickens’ Mice: The Tails Behind the Tale, and Through Button Eyes: Memoirs of an Edwardian Teddy Bear (out of print). Kim has also written for several publications including Beaufort Lifestyle magazine, Bluffton Breeze magazine, Citizen’s Companion, and the Civil War Times.
In 2011 she was cast as Mrs. Stanton, wife of Secretary of War Stanton (Kevin Kline), in the Robert Redford film, The Conspirator. Additional film projects include portraying the wife of a villainous husband in the Vook version of Jude Devereaux' novella Promises and one of the featured docents in the 2018 documentary Beyond the Oaks by Drew Baron Films.
Kim lives in a haunted 1890s Victorian cottage in the South Carolina Lowcountry with her husband, Darryl, and their furry children.
