So many books, so little time...
I am not an award-winning author nor have I ever been on a best-sellers list. What does that say about my writing? Not a thing. There are thousands of writers with thousands of books being published each day. Some traditional, some hybrid, and others Indie. There’s a multitude of talent creating entertaining stories around the world. Very few make it to the best seller lists or win awards. But that doesn’t mean their message or their books are any less important or unworthy.
What do I look for in a book? I enjoy a face paced, easy read, preferably, historical fiction, southern fiction, or anything haunted (not gory or cultish). I don’t like graphic anything except descriptions of historic interiors or Victorian era attire. Abuse or injury to animals is an instant pass. Some of my favorite modern-day authors include:
Jana DeLeon (Swamp Team series)
Carolyn Haines (Pluto Snitch and Sarah Booth Delaney series)
Pat Conroy
Dorothea Benton Frank
Susan Diamand Riley
Lorie Langdon and Carey Corp (Doon series)
Karen Menuhin
Connie Berry
Kerri Mansicalco (Jack the Ripper series)
Darcy Coates
Karen White (Tradd Street series)
Classic fiction favorites include:
Charles Dickens
Jane Austen
All the Brontes
Edgar Allen Poe
What draws you to a book and who are some of your favorite authors? Do you rely on the best seller list titles, recommendations from social media and friends, or do you judge the book by its cover?
Blessings,
