Support Indie Bookstores!
We are blessed in our small Lowcountry town to have three independently owned bookstores. Most large cities don’t have any. The beauty of our Indie bookstores is that each is unique. Recently, a big box bookstore opened. I want to encourage everyone who lives and visits here to do their book shopping at one of our Indie bookstores instead of the big box store. Here are some reasons why:
Nevermore Books
910 Port Republic Street, 843-812-9460
· Owners, Lorrie and Dave, are friendly and willing to help with your book needs.
· They host book signings for best sellers and regional authors.
· Edgar Allen Poe themed store (super cool atmosphere).
· Specialize in rare editions, local books, and vinyl records.
· Don’t see what you want on the shelf? They can order it for you.
· Want a signed copy of my books? Order directly from them!
· Did I mention the Poe themed store? Definitely worth the visit.
· Fun stickers and other book related goodies.
The Beaufort Bookstore
2127 Boundary Street, #15, 842-525-1066
· Owner, Bruce, is pleasant and will order any book you want if it isn’t in the store.
· Wide variety of best sellers, local interest and authors, self-help, children’s section, cookbooks, crafting, etc.
· Bruce is a staunch supporter of authors. He’s hosted best sellers and local writers with refreshments provided (by Bruce and his wife) during signings.
· Wide selection of book themed goodies also available in the store.
MacIntosh Book Shoppe
917 Bay Street
· Owner, Wilson, is a staunch supporter of local authors, hosting book signings on a regular basis.
· Specializes in antique and rare first editions, local interest, and local authors.
· Stocks a vast array of classics and hard to find books including children’s books, non-fiction, and fiction, mostly vintage and antique.
When shopping at these Indie bookstores you get more than a book. The personalized service, atmosphere, and uncommon selections make it a memorable experience. Please shop small and shop local. The big box companies don’t need your business but our town and our Indie bookstores do.
